Current Studies

Why not join us in the lab as a participant in one or more of our studies? Studies vary from one session to five sessions, and all involve fun activities that help us learn more about how children remember things! Please contact us if you are interested in participating in our research, or have any questions about our research.

Interactions with Online Media Content and Memory

Samantha Barbosa

In partnership with the Child Memory Lab at Wilfrid Laurier University, we are inviting children between the ages of 7-12 years old and one of their parents or guardians to participate in a study about how children interact with online media content and their memory of those interactions. The purpose of this study is to better understand the relationship between online content interactions and the factors that may affect children’s memory.

We are expecting to recruit between 120 to 160 children and one parent/guardian. Children must be between the ages of 7-12 years old. Eligible participants must speak and read English, must be able to communicate verbally, and have access to internet and a webcam, and either a computer or  tablet.

The study includes two online sessions which will be carried out in a virtual meeting space via Zoom. Before the first visit, you will be asked to complete a questionnaire which will take no more than 25 minutes. The first visit will be 25-30 minutes and the second visit will occur 2-3 days later and will be 30-40 minutes. The children will interact with online content and will complete a few fun tasks with me, the researcher! Parents/Guardians will receive compensation of a $25 Amazon or Indigo e-gift card for their participation.

If you are interested in participating in this study or if you would like more information, please do not hesitate to contact us , or contact Samantha Barbosa!

Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Workshops

Cassandra Wauters, Saranka Parameswaran, Mallory Earnshaw, Bailey Rand

We are looking for parents/guardians whose children are anywhere between 5 and 10 years old. We are interested in learning about children and their ability to remember. Children should be able to speak English, communicate verbally and have access to the Internet, and a computer or iPad with a camera.

The study is conducted remotely via Zoom. The study includes three online sessions, where children will learn about the concepts of equity, diversity, and inclusion in engaging workshops. There will be activities, reading of books/stories, and fun brain break exercises! There will also be a final interview that will take place a week after the last workshop session. These first three workshops will be 25 minutes and a final interview session will take about 30 minutes.

To thank you for your participation, we will send you a $50.00 Amazon gift card upon completion of the study. I have attached the flyer below, with more details. Please feel free to look it over and contact the research team regarding this research and your participation! Thank you! We greatly appreciate your time and interest!
